Sydney's nightlife is improving. But willingness was never the problem.

Delivered with support from the City of Sydney, this new report from the Night Time Industries Association combines fresh consumer data with lived industry experience from the operators shaping Sydney’s nights. Drawing on a survey of 1,000 Greater Sydney residents and in-depth interviews with four of Sydney’s leading venue operators, it provides the clearest picture yet of what is driving, and holding back, our city after dark.

The findings show cautious improvement but persistent barriers. Sydneysiders are going out, perceptions of diversity and inclusivity are rising, and pricing pressure is easing slightly. But affordability remains the dominant constraint, public transport continues to truncate the night, and safety perceptions, particularly around policing, are sharpening rather than softening.
