Our advocacy agenda
The NTIA’s advocacy agenda is our members’ action plan. It builds on one of our core roles – to be a visible and vocal voice for industry – with tangible steps to improve the night time economy.
This advocacy agenda is designed for both the short and long term. It addresses challenges that members face right now, and sets the scene for solutions to long term hurdles that will take time to overcome.
At the heart of this is our commitment to our members, ‘to support the growth and development of night time industries’.
Easing the cost of doing business
The costs associated with running a night time economy business have exploded in recent years. Businesses shouldn’t be punished for seeking to grow and trying new things. By advocating for reform within government and industry we can help our members save time and money to grow their business.
Turning regulatory change and an appetite for reform into wins for industry
Ensuring that regulatory change results in tangible action will mean the benefits can be realised for our members. This can mean simpler processes, reduced costs and clearer rules and regulations to abide. Success on this front means members can get on with running their businesses and make the most of the new opportunities before them.
Late night transportation and safety at night
The perennial challenge for the night time economy. Improving availability and access to late running transportation can help more people to stay out later in member venues knowing they have a safe and affordable way home.
Building new audiences while addressing the changing commercial realities of the night time economy
The idea of ‘build it and they will come’ doesn’t work. Night time businesses need a continual flow of new and engaged audiences to fill their venues. With more businesses entering the market the need to grow the scale and size of the audience is crucial. Growing the audience pool, supporting new and existing venues and creating new pathways to engage with the night means more opportunities for members to engage with more consumers.
